Melliou Kiriaki' s Short CV
Mrs Kiriaki Melliou is a Kindergarten specialist and public speaker with considerable work and experience in the field of developing High Order Thinking with Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). She received a Bachelors of Early Childhood Education with Distinction from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a Masters of Educational Leadership with Distinction fromRhodes Aegean University. She is a Ph.D Candidate in the Department of Early Childhood Education of the University of Western Macedonia. Her research centers on the impact of ICT on developing thinking dispositions within the framework of Harvard’s Visible Thinking approach. She has also received a Professional Development Certificate of Making Thinking Visible from Wide World of Harvard’s Graduate School of Education.
Conference presentations and her research papers include studies on several Web 2.0 tools and applications. Her innovative practice on creating Digital Comics in Kindergarten has been awarded by the Greek Ministry of National Education. Her project on Humans Rights and Democracy is among the winning projects (4th position) that will be celebrated by the Council of Europe as a major contribution to citizenship and human rights education and will be included in one or several short-film(s)/animation(s) which will be commissioned afterwards. Mrs Melliou has served as coordinator for e-Twinning Learning Lab and contributed as pilot teacher to LLP Comenius Project. She is currently working as a Kindergarten Educator in the Directorate of Primary Education in Piraeus, Greece.
