Kyriaki Melliou

Dr. Kiriaki Melliou is the Early Childhood Education Coordinator at the Peripheral Center of Educational Planning of Attica, in Greece. Her research interests focus on the use of Harvard’s Project Zero frameworks and ideas to provide all students with powerful opportunities to thrive in the 21st century. In 2014, she became the first Greek educator who joined Harvard’s “Out of Eden Learn” online learning community and was featured in the second OOEL “glimpses” video about exemplary classroom practice. She established and now mentors a vibrant OOEL teacher community with more than 1500 active members in Greece. In 2019 she was invited to serve as a Fellow at Project Zero’s renowned annual conference at Harvard University— an indicator of the extremely high regard in which she is held at Project Zero. Kiriaki has contributed as an expert to national and international scientific projects awarded by the Ministry of Education and the Council of Europe, to develop methodology and electronic learning scenarios that use PZ’s ideas to promote 21st century skills. She has published more than 30 research papers and presented in several international conferences. Since 2020 she has been teaching three graduate courses at the University of Western Macedonia under the topic of learning and thinking strategies for 21st century education.
