Stefanos Xefteris

Stefanos Xefteris, is an adjunct Lecturer in Educational Robotics and ICT in education  at the Department of Elementary Education in Florina at the University of Western Macedonia in Greece. His focuses on  educational robotics and ICT enhanced learning, development of STEAM learning scenaria and development of digital learning practices. My main research interest is integrating multimodal technologies (robotics, augmented and mixed reality) in novel teaching interventions for elementary education applications.

Dr. Xefteris studied  Mathematics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and completed his PhD in  National Technical University of Athens, in the Distributed Knowledge and Media Systems Lab, focusing on emotion recognition biometrics for assisted living applications, using neural networks and computer vision modalities. 

He has worked as a research associate in  ICCS (Institute of Communications and Computer Systems) in the National Technical University of Athens, and has participated in research projects (FP7, Horizon2020 etc) in managerial and technical positions, working in projects ranging from e-government applications and clinical trial software design to machine learning and AAL.

From January 2015 to July 2016 he worked as a research associate in the  Medical Physics Lab in the School of Medicine of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.

Since 2017 Dr. Xefteris been working as an adjunct lecturer of the  Elementary Education Department in the University of Western Macedonia teaching the courses “Educational Robotics”, “Development of STEAM teaching scenarios using robotics” and “Development of digital teaching material”.

Stefanos believes that science education is the answer to shaping a better future, along with empathy and compassion.
